Material Memory - Exhibition

About Exhibition

"Second Year Fine Art are pleased to announce the opening of their pop-up exhibition ‘Extremity: experiments in materiality and space’ at the North House Gallery Space, DIT Grangegorman.
Over a period of four weeks the students worked experimentally; responding to the gallery space and the theme of “Material Memory”. Throughout this process their research was informed by site visits to Pidgeon House Sandymount and the National History Museum, Collins Barracks. Each trip involved a number of tasks and exercises which students used for inspiration and research. Emerging from a number of common starting points each student has developed diverse individual projects in wide range of processes from casting to video and slide projection, from sculpture and drawing to sound-works and installation, all with a particular focus on materiality."
