Professional Practice - Portfolio

In my recent work I refer often to a recent history of Ireland. It's a primary, basic research so far and it bases on my observations, stories I heard, books, movies and songs. I found this interesting how the idea of submission refers to a process of liberation of Ireland and the transition from State dependent from England to a State appearing under full control of Vatican. As a teenager I was observing similar process in Poland. In this country had a place similar process: after years of fight for independence and fall of communism in 1989 Poland turned into catholic extremism that includes total control over government, constitution and social relationships.

1. Dublin (Stories from the City Stories from the Sea)

Series of paintings of Dublin and Ireland from 2012. A title of this series was taken from PJ Harvey album "Stories from the City Stories from the Sea"(2000). 2012 it was a beginning of my journey through recent history of the Ireland and simultaneously beginning of the process of verifying memories from my own childhood. These are a few examples of spontaneous artistic impressions I've made before making a research. I finished them later, in 2015, by overlapping images of a spacious smudges of colour.

2. Misplaced Childhood

One of the most important threads in this area of my work is the process of indoctrination of children including transferring them a certain patterns of morals. I often refer to my own experience as a child, how it affected my mental health and perception of the world in my later years. I talk from the point of view of mother, who's child- a girl- is raised away from religious indocrination.
